[ARCHIVE RESTORATION : MM6 MAISON MARGIELA JACKET]
The Maison Margiela MM6 line has always been about subverting classics — and this archive restoration piece captures that philosophy in full. Cut from a heavy-weight Japanese cotton-nylon blend, this jacket takes the traditional worker overshirt silhouette and deconstructs it through the unmistakable MM6 lens.
Fabric & Construction
We sourced a custom 320gsm cotton-nylon twill from a niche Okayama mill, chosen for its dry hand-feel and ability to hold sharp crease lines. The fabric undergoes a proprietary enzyme wash that softens the interior face while maintaining the crisp exterior structure. Every seam is double-needle flat-felled — the same construction used on the original archive piece — ensuring both durability and a clean interior finish.
Design Details
Signature MM6 white stitch lines run along the collar and placket, executed with the exact stitch density of the original. Two oversized chest pockets with concealed snap closures. The back features a subtle tonal embroidery of the MM6 numerical logo, placed off-center as a nod to the house deconstructionist ethos. Raglan sleeves with reinforced elbow patches. Corozo nut buttons sourced from an Italian supplier — each one individually buffed for a matte finish.
Fit & Sizing
Intentionally oversized, following the original MM6 silhouette. The jacket drops straight from the shoulders with a slight A-line drape. Designed to be worn layered — fits comfortably over a hoodie or chunky knit. Model is 185cm wearing size M for an authentic oversized look.
Archive Notes
This restoration is based on a deadstock MM6 piece from the FW19 collection. The original had a distinctive patina from years of wear — we have replicated this through a multi-stage garment-dye process followed by industrial stone-washing. No two pieces are identical. Each jacket carries subtle variations in wash pattern and fading — this is intentional and part of the archive restoration philosophy.
