ERD25FW Purple Moleskin Jacket

ARCHIVE LOG / 01 – ER25FW Moleskin Jacket

ARCHIVE LOG / 01:
AN UNCOMPROMISING TEXTILE OBSESSION.

PROJECT FILE: ER25FW PURPLE MOLESKIN JACKET

STATUS: FINAL WASHING STAGE / PRE-ORDER IMMINENT

DATE: 2026.03

Subverting the traditional Detroit jacket entirely, this is a perilous, cost-blind restoration project.

We are confronting an astronomically demanding Archive piece in terms of craftsmanship: the **ER25FW Purple Moleskin Jacket**. The original suffered from heavy washing, obliterating the graphic details. Rather than simplifying our task, it demanded a surgical reconstruction starting from the very foundation of its textile logic.

Below is the classified development dossier for the Purple Moleskin.

I. YARN & WEAVING: BREAKING THE LEFT-HAND TWILL COMPROMISE

This fabric is technically known as Moleskin, an ultra-high-density cotton textile historically reserved for premium French Workwear.

Here, we encountered our first massive divergence: Every off-the-shelf French Workwear fabric on the market utilizes a left-hand twill, whereas the ERD original is constructed with a right-hand twill. We refused to compromise on this directional inversion.

We exclusively booked a narrow-shuttle loom imported from Japan, custom-spinning the yarn from its absolute origin—producing a full 3,000 meters of yarn. Under strict microscopic scrutiny, not only the weave pattern but the exact yarn gauge matches the original flawlessly.

Extreme Luxury in Wastage: The width of premium fabrics is often dictated by the loom. Our custom right-hand Moleskin is restricted to a grueling 145cm width. The painfully low yield and massive cutting waste drove the raw fabric cost alone to a staggering 113 RMB/meter.

This is incomparable to the cheap canvas flooding the market. It utilizes 50+ thread-count premium satin (360g horizontal-tribute weaving process, 32s/2), delivering both tactile superiority and structural integrity.

II. CHEMICAL WARFARE: OKAYAMA DYES & WASH RECONSTRUCTION

The “Phantom Purple” hue is exceedingly specific. During early sampling, the dye proved highly unstable, resulting in frequent color jumping.

To achieve the ultimate chromatic restoration, we imported custom-mixed dyes directly from Okayama, Japan for relentless testing. The true nightmare lay in the washing process—the original’s heavy wash blurred the graphics into an unrecognizable state. We enlisted top-tier film artisans and illustrators to collaboratively redraw and resurrect the precise graphic boundaries.

Currently, industry-leading domestic washing facilities are fully collaborating with us to conquer the final hurdle of washing and dyeing. The bespoke herringbone inner lining has already finished weaving, and the hardware files are being personally overseen by our team.

III. HARDWARE DECONSTRUCTION: ABSOLUTE CLONING OF ZIPPERS & BUTTONS

In developing the trims, we discarded all generic off-the-shelf components. The distressed metallic luster of the original, the oxidized mottling on the buttons, and even the precise dampening feel of the zipper teeth engaging—all demanded independent molding and hundreds of polishing and distressing trials until they were indistinguishable from the archive original.

Immensely complex craftsmanship and exorbitant production costs—yet it culminates in an undeniably breathtaking garment. All dynamic details will be fully deconstructed in tomorrow’s video log.
